Quando energie diverse ma con tanti valori in comune si incontrano, nascono spesso progetti…brillanti! Oggi vi racconteremo di quualcosa che è successo prima, durante e dopo le feste natalizie. Certo non ci saremmo aspettati una così grande iniziativa quando per la prima volta abbiamo raccontato di Karibujua e dei suoi progetti ai responsabili di Alpitour, azienda leader in Italia nel campo del turismo. È stato entusiasmante entrare nei dettagli del nostro operare, giorno per giorno, anno dopo anno, tra Italia e Kenya, con il coinvolgimento di persone, famiglie, villaggi, scuole… ed è stato ancora più bello scoprire che Alpitour avesse l’intenzione di festeggiare i suoi 70 anni di vita facendo un regalo speciale ai suoi dipendenti: un regalo che non fosse soltanto materiale, ma che rappresentasse lo spirito dell’azienda, l’impegno nel promuovere la bellezza del mondo, anche sostenendo dei progetti di solidarietà. E cosi Karibujua ed Alpitour hanno iniziato a progettare insieme il regalo più adatto per festeggiare insieme anni di attività e iniziative, con tutte le persone che ne hanno preso parte… e quale modo migliore poteva esserci, se non donare una luce a chi è meno fortunato di noi?
È bastato spiegare il progetto Light Up Your Africa, per scatenare la fantasia di tutti: Alpitour avrebbe donato ben 1500 lampade Little Sun, una per ciascun dipendente, che sarebbero state consegnate dai nostri volontari in Kenya. È così è stato: nel mese di dicembre i nostri Anna, Federica, Elisa e Carlo sono partiti verso l’area del Lower Tana Delta Conservancy. Al team Karibujua si sono aggiunti con entusiasmo anche alcuni dei nostri studenti del progetto di sponsorizzazione di borse di studio Dakta: Fatuma Sophia, Ismael, Jumaa e Salim. Tutti insieme hanno organizzato la consegna delle lampade radunando nei villaggi famiglie e studenti precedentemente selezionati dai capi delle comunità stesse. Una grande folla e una festa coloratissima e rumorosa ha accolto il team in ogni villaggio, tra la felicità, la sorpresa e l’emozione di chi riceveva la lampada.
La settimana delle consegne è stata lunga e intensa: in jeep, in barca e a piedi sotto il sole rovente i nostri ragazzi hanno raggiunto i villaggi più dispersi. Fra capanne di fango, mucche e capre tutto il villaggio faceva festa ai volontari che, muniti di liste precise e con voce potente e megafono spiegavano il funzionamento della Little Sun nel dialetto locale: 4 ore di ricarica al sole donano 10 ore di luce normale o 4 ore di luce potente. Niente più lampade a paraffina (costose, inquinanti e pericolose) e nemmeno torce con batterie vecchie e usate. Con le Little Sun donate da Alpitour ora tutti potranno utilizzare questa nuova luce per le consuete attività domestiche, ma soprattutto troveranno grande utilità tutti gli studenti all’ultimo anno di Primary School ai quali è stata donata una lampada a supporto del loro studio per l’esame più importante della loro carriera scolastica. Grazie alla distribuzione delle lampade ora le capanne saranno più luminose e i ragazzi avranno l’opportunità di dare una luce nuova al loro futuro.
Karibujua ringrazia Alpitour e Neos, e in particolare Simona Nocifora, Francesco Fornara e Cecilia De Ranieri, senza i quali l’operazione non sarebbe mai esistita. Uno speciale grazie va alla creatività e bontà di Little Sun Energy. When energies of shared values do meet, brilliant projects can come to light! Today we will tell you about something that happened recently... We never would have expected such a great operation when we first spoke about Karibujua and all its projects to Alpitour, the italian leading tour operator.
It is always a joy to see day by day and year after year how many people, families, villages and schools in Italy and Kenya are being involved in our projects. But It got even more exciting when Alpitour decided to celebrate with us their 70 years of activity by making a special present to all its employees. A special gift, not only a material one, but something that represents the vision of the company: the aim to promote the beauty of the world by supporting some solidarity projects. Karibujua and Alpitour started to plan together the most suitable gift to celebrate this special anniversary. What better idea than donate light to someone who does not have it?
After having had the project Light Up Your Africa presented Alpitour decided to donate 1500 Little Sun Lamps, one for each of its employees. The lamps would be delivered by Karibujua volunteers in Kenya. So before X-Mas Anna, Federica, Elisa and Carlo left for the Lower Tana Delta Conservancy area. The Karibujua team was also enthusiastically supported by some of the local students that are in the Karibujua Dakta scholarship sponsorship project: Fatuma Sophia, Ismael, Jumaa and Salim.
Together the team arranged the distribution of the lamps gathering families and students previously carefully selected by the Chairman and the headmen of the community. A big colorful and noisy crowd welcomed the team in every village. The shiny eyes and bright smiles of the people when they received their Little Sun were the best thank one can get. The week was intense: by jeep, boat and walking under the hot african sun our team had to reach every day far away villages.
Among the mud huts, cows and goats, the whole village greeted happily the volunteers. Equipped with precise lists and with a powerful voice (sometime even using a megaphone) our team explained the use of the Little Sun in the local dialect: 4 hours of charging in the sun gives 10 hours of normal light or 4 hours of powerful light. No more paraffin lamps (expensive, polluting and dangerous) nor torches with need batteries. Everyone will be able to use this new light for the normal domestic activities but the Little Sun will be especially useful for the students as it will enable them to study in the evening in particular when they need to prepare some exams. Thanks to the distribution of the lamps the huts will be brighter in the Lower Tana delta and the students will have the opportunity to give a new light to their future.
Karibujua thanks Alpitour and Neos, in particular Simona, Francesco and Cecilia, without whom the operation would never have been possible.
